World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from the Houston Open, with veteran Matt Kuchar named as his replacement in the field, the PGA Tour announced on Wednesday.[1]
The withdrawal comes ahead of one of the final tune-up events before the Masters Tournament. The Houston Open is held at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas.[2]
Scheffler and his wife, Meredith, are expecting their second child, according to reports. The couple welcomed their first child, son Bennett, on May 8, 2024.[3]
The American golfer enters the week as the defending Masters champion, having won the green jacket in 2022 and 2024.[4] Scheffler finished second at the 2022 Houston Open.[1]
Scheffler's next opportunity for a Masters preparation will be the Valero Texas Open next week.
